The question arose during an inquiry into the history of centralized education, the influence of a vast institutional structure on the growth of children, shaping the way they perceive themselves relative to their surroundings. More specifically, I was looking for impressions regarding the faculty of receiving, creating and expressing mental images, that is, the ability to imagine, which in itself is a power.
The impression of an image remembered me the trace of an electronic ray on a CRT television screen, which inspired a series of wave modulations or scanning patterns, used as a vehicle in creating the audiovisual composition.
Found footage related to the initial inquiry, regarding insights of children, teachers working with children and rituals integrating the individual into a community were passed into the wave carrier like shreds of memory.
The post-industrial landscape serves as an anchor for the montage, bits of messages cast in concrete. Perception of the image is not limited to its readiness to be consumed, the way it appears, the viewing angle is part of the experience.
