Verandas or stairwells serve as transitional spaces, territories that are generally not perceived as stages at events in broadly recognized meeting places such as a theatre or a pub. Veranda is an expression of continuity, a kind of currency in exchange for the impossibility of being there. The sculpture's tentacles move through the vibrations picked up by a microphone hanging in the stairwell, sent to audio exciters inside of the sculpture.
